April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons which ignited her love for music writing. April Lockhart wrote her first song, Different, at age 12 years old. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of her time writing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. She began writing with her father in NY and LA soon after. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart has a fan base of her own and has a job as a lifestyle blogger under the popular Ilia Pure Beauty brand. Lockhart was born with no hand on her left side and it's part of who she is--but it's far from the entirety of her story. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on her account on Instagram, but she doesn't concentrate on her account. What message is it sending? The message is that we are more than simply our physical body. Our identities are complex and we contain many different dimensions. I do not want this to determine me. I do not want to become a disability advocate which is what I'm talking about because there are so different aspects to me Lockhart shares her thoughts via video from her residence in Nashville. My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I just live my normal daily life, and come up with my own solutions to issues. It's an integral element of my life which is why it's crucial for us to speak about the subject. Lockhart is a great example to self-acceptance, is on a long process to attain it. But she has admitted to going through a series of phases in her body and sometimes being unsure about wearing particular types of clothes that showed off her arms. Today, she wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself wearing those clothes to the internet with a sense of pride. Self-love, she says is a process. It's hard to say if it will ever be over. This is a process, and I'm not convinced that you will ever make it to the end. I believe having friends close to you who truly are aware of you and know your feelings is crucial as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you worried about?
